busy staying busy another day
hammering all the healing away
push it down, deep deep down
the highs, eventually letdown
buried where the voice breaks out
trading in shame swallowing doubt
where tension runs extra thick
choking your inner child sick
hammer, hammer, hammer and move
busy, being busy, gathering to prove
the pain, the pain, anesthetizing
hurt gets so cold as you stop realizing
so so cold and far from healing
memories betray authentic feeling
soreness is tenderness coercing stillness
retaliating for misplacing forgiveness
