{"id":2808,"date":"2017-01-30T13:29:29","date_gmt":"2017-01-30T17:29:29","guid":{"rendered":"\/?page_id=2808"},"modified":"2017-04-21T11:47:52","modified_gmt":"2017-04-21T15:47:52","slug":"poetry","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/brianbaruch.com\/index.php\/poetry\/","title":{"rendered":"Poetry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-3340 alignleft\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/bb-poet.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"438\" height=\"584\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;I feel that poets are advocates of the heart, as opposed to those occupied with the task\u00a0advancing the agendas of the mind.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2028\u2028\u00a0At<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0our present zeitgeist in the West, there is a flooding of media and material designed to appeal to the mind&#8217;s reactive concerns. Media peddles news of impediments to\u00a0survival, fuels competitive agendas, and commoditizes human interest for commercial\u00a0leveraging.\u00a0With repeated exposure, this\u00a0results in a\u00a0dulling of the heart&#8217;s senses. In effect, rendering our culture most reactive and predictable. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2028\u2028Countering<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0this discordant din,\u00a0are heart-driven, inspired, rhapsodic vignettes crafted for\u00a0music, drama and the written form. These aim to help coax humanity to\u00a0&#8220;feel&#8221; again. These artists\u00a0maintain that it is the heart that sets forth the agenda of the mind, and inspires\u00a0individuals on a\u00a0course for more\u00a0authentic action.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2028\u2028 In this spirit, I proudly assert that I am an artist, an artist of words, I am a poet.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inspired\u00a0poetry can\u00a0catalyze a feeling of\u00a0reunion\u00a0and wholeness. Its a medium well suited for reflection and deeper meditative probing. Enwrapped in such prose we drop our worldly masks and contending perspectives to engage in the true spirit of what it means to be alive and to be truly humane.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 12pt;\">Increasingly, there is an appetite for material that\u00a0coaxes the heart\u00a0to &#8220;feel&#8221; in ways that offer hope, solace, healing and reunion. And as our world continues to redefine the narrative of the human condition such\u00a0&#8220;feelings&#8221; are our north star, and guardians of our moral compass.
