Broken Hearted

Brian Baruch

a shadow lies beneath her moods hunting our truest key

it sways and grows infectiously edging toward a kindred apathy

that buries and dims our wishes and whims the dreams we left unbled

blunting unspoken memories of gentleness we shed

it thickens to fill rusting too our will

as we trade stubborn glances for assaulting circumstances

while feigning ever-restlessly a posturing of normalcy

coursing this venom to constrict our grind

onto perforated outlines with desaturated crimes that cast me outside to see this humbling tragedy of broken hearts
